The Memorial is located close to sites and monuments in relation to Nantes’s past as a slave-trading city. This visit of the city will lead you up to decipher the footsteps of what was a major activity in Nantes during the 18th and the 19th centuries. You will discover the hotels that used to belong to ship and slave owners, the dock from where the slave ships used to leave for Africa and the West-Indies, symbolic places such as the Schoelcher walkway, or economic ones such as the Stock Exchange…
