THE MEMORIAL
THE MEMORIAL WITHIN THE TOWN

URBAN PATH
Whilst the Memorial of the abolition of slavery allows us to remember and inscribe events in the town’s memory, the Nantes history museum, situated at the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany provides us with the keys to understanding Nantes’ slave-trading past, which is covered extensively in the permanent exhibition.

These two sites are linked by a route through the streets of Nantes, punctuated by eleven information panels on slave-trading entitled « Nantes and slave trading ».

The route is just over 1.5 km long, and will take around 1 hour to visit.
